I do not like the AMT Heil drivers at all. I have no idea what 5 times higher transient response they claimed but to my ears all AMT drivers I heard sounded like their upper notes are covered with 2 inch deep saliva. The Heil drivers are in my view t...

As I told the design requirements were to makes the horns fillbale with sand. So I did it with one horn. I still keep shaking it rotating it to settle the sand down. So felled up one horn, it took 57 pounds of sand. Add to it 20 pounds of own mass ma...

My Freudian subject line is not just phraseology but something that does make a lot of sense to me. It is my sentiment that audio people are not familiar with proper bass reproduction and have wrong expectations how bass shall sound by playback. Expe...

Interesting, Keith. You got 95db at 23Hz, I thigh the idea of to use tapped horn it to get more sensitivity. Did you intentionally did not target 102-103dB or you went for wider bandwidth instead of gain? You also use 300w SS amps. Did you try to use...

All of those full of pomposity and pretentiousness online confident professors have very pale appearance as they need to demonstrate the actual results. The mouth running is great but audio is not literature but Sound. So, the another half of the sto...

Arno, I have plenty at my site that describes in great detains why and what I do not like in idea of single driver with back-loaded horn. Build it and hear what you will be getting. The software you are irrelevant. There are no intended or not inte...

Interpreting, John. When you hook is up can you write up your observations about the sound of this thing, perhaps in a different thread.… I might, in a few weeks, will be able to add quite a lot of new observations about the Sansui TU-X1. I als...
I also have some problem with my T85 Multiplex Decoder to read the REL composite signal. The T85’s decoder read Schwarz’s signal perfectly but it is finicky REL’s signal. I did not figure out yet hat is going on.[/quo...

I have no idea where this saga with REL leads me. Even though I do have substantial sonic improvement over the original REL version I still do not know if I like this tuner all together. The 50 years all tube tuner with 17 tubes is very freaky thing....
I have to say, that I genially like the new 99.5. I do not have as perfect reception as I had with 97.9 with absolutely clear, no noise background. Still, thankfully the compression of the new 99.5 is very low and last ...

It is truly perfect evening here, in the Romy the Cat’s castle. The weather today in Boston is phenomenal, temperature just spot on, with no wind of humidity. I woke up just 15 minutes before the BSO broadcast, warmed up the Milqs, Schwarz and Lavry....

I put a couple small files form today broadcast. Generally I screed it up and I have learned later on that some of the sound cards setting might be better, the recording level at the AD was 8dB less then it should be and as it turned out that I have ...

Got the AES/EBU to S/PDIF adaptor and it turned out to work very nice. I do not have “audiophile-approved” better AES/EBU cables but among those cables that I have the S/PDIF Synapses + the adaptor sound more interesting then the native AES/EBU + non...
fiogf49gjkf0d1) 3) The common mode filter you have at the PS’s input- why do you use them? They do eat some dynamics. As many time I removed them from all imaginary components as many time I witnessed better sound. ...

The regular readers of my audio blog probably have read the thread: “How to record FM broadcasts” at:

As you know I turned into to do it digitally and I do like it quite a lot. A couple months ...

The BSO give us the concerts with sliced AIFF files. I wonder how can I make the program to run as a continue file? I was trying to glue the AIFF file back into one file but the Brahms Requiem for instance makes 2.117G of combined file and 32 bit Win...

I do not use the ionizers for my LP setup anymore. I find that it is very inconsistent as sometime it helps against dust and sometime it does not. What however, I did noted that if you use a powerful ionizer that can ionize the enter room then it loo...

Yes, Paul, I did not think this way but you are very correct. Technics TT, Denon 103 cartridges, Fostex speakers, “single girl with balalaika” music and Adcom CD players are kind of come along all together very well. It is not that I have something t...
Now how much better would be if people abandon that idiotic SACD/DSD and Mark Donahue would record BSO right in PCM at 88.2 kHz/24bit or 172.2 kHz/24bit format? Then the files that we get will be as close to raw master file...
Here is my second attempt to make ad-hog analog transfers. The file is 280 Meg in 167kH and 24 bit. Do not download it if you can’t not play 167kH. The file is 0.5dB hotter then it shall be and has some clipping. I wonder i...

It is reported that Lavry Gold DA924 is no longer available and Dan Lavry reportedly is working on new generation of Gold DAC. In so, there are 4 very interesting question: 1) Will Lavry make his new DAC to run at 4X? This is VERY tricky. For year...

Playing back music by streaming signal from computer has become super fashionable among audio people. Everyone seems do it nowadays but the more they do the more I do not appreciate what theses audio people do. I have quite well documented record to ...

I had yesterday a visitor from west coast came to my place and we spent sometime to listen some music. It is interesting that among all music that I played for him I had little interest to how my playback sounded unless I played Bruckner. I kind of...
The main worsening of Sound by digital technology does not come from limitation of formats but from a corruption of recording culture. In past the tape or a disk was tangible analog evidence all manipulation that took place...

Unicon, when you lose the 6 screws on same driver equally and sound changes then what exactly you feel is changing in sound. I do not mind you reporting that sound change but I still not at ease that you associate the change with phase. I do not thin...
